West, Thomas         (Infant)

died – 1811

s/o William West

William West came from Kentucky.   According to Clyde Lee Jenkins, former Miller County Clerk, in 1807

William West was the first white man to settle in what later became Miller County.

He built his log cabin on the Big Tavern creek, which is in the heart of an area inhabited by the Osage Indians.

The spot of his home is where Highway 52, Northeast of St Elizabeth, now crosses the Big Tavern.

William West and his wife moved from Miller County in 1811.

Before leaving they had to bury their infant son, Thomas, beside the Big Tavern Creek.
